Robert D. Smith, Vice President of Supply Chain, is responsible for developing and implementing supply chain strategies that ensure cost efficiencies and fulfill customer expectations. He leads the end-to-end supply chain process while collaborating with distributors, residential and commercial business units, factories and vendors to maintain proper inventory levels and drive the highest levels of reliability in customer order fulfillment.
Smith joined METUS in February 2021 with over 27 years of experience at Ingersoll Rand and Trane Technologies. His areas of expertise include product engineering, plant management, distribution, logistics and supply chain. During his career, he held multiple positions of increasing responsibility, ranging from engineering roles to Global Director of Logistics and Distribution.
Prior to joining the company, he served as Global Director of Procurement at Trane Technologies where he used his skills to drive supply chain efficiencies. Under his leadership, his teams won prestigious achievement awards.
Smith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Tennessee. He also received a Master of Business Administration from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina.
