Mitsubishi Electric US, Inc. Cooling & Heating Division (Mitsubishi Electric), North America’s leading marketer of advanced cooling and heating systems for commercial and residential applications, announced the hiring of Steve O’Brien as vice president, residential business.
In this role, O’Brien will provide expertise and direction to the U.S. residential team and work closely with Tom Dowling, vice president, commercial business, on overall strategy execution. He will oversee directors in the division’s six residential business units, managing communication between the regional teams to ensure all core business operations are unified and in line with corporate business goals.
“We’re confident that the business strategies Steve develops will strengthen valuable relationships, generate sustainable revenue and expand market share for our residential HVAC sector,” says Shuji Morisaki, executive vice president and general manager, Mitsubishi Electric US, Inc. Cooling & Heating Division.

He managed the company’s Marathon & Century motor and control business – a division of the $3.7 billion global manufacturer of electric motors and controls, generators and power transmission equipment. He joined Regal Beloit when it acquired A.O. Smith Electrical Products Company (A.O. Smith), Tipp City, Ohio, in 2011. Prior to the acquisition, O’Brien was with A.O. Smith for more than a decade.
O’Brien holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and computer science from the State University of New York College at Potsdam, Potsdam, New York, and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio.
