Mitsubishi Electric Introduces MXZ-5B System, Expands Line of Multi-zone Ductless Solutions

Mitsubishi Electric US Cooling & Heating Division, America's No. 1 selling brand of ductless cooling and heating systems, has introduced the MXZ-5B multi-zone heat pump system, the newest in its extensive line of ductless cooling and heating systems. At 42,000 Btu/h and 3.5 tons, no other system on the market operates at this size and capacity. The MXZ-5B can cool or heat up to five zones, making it ideal for large additions, whole floors or entire homes.

This system is the latest addition to the MXZ multi-zone series, which offers individual zone control to as many as eight indoor units from a single outdoor unit. The outdoor units can be used with a variety of indoor unit styles and capacities, lending themselves to easier, more flexible installations with the ability to mix and match units to suit each home’s unique cooling and heating needs. Adding to the benefits of the MXZ series, the MXZ-5B also features:

  • Five-port system, with no branch box required.
  • Exceptional heating capacity of 53,600 Btu/h at 47 degrees Fahrenheit and 30,500 Btu/h at 17 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • 18.4 SEER efficiency rating.
  • Long line lengths of 262 feet and 50 feet vertical height.

“Ductless technology is the fastest growing segment in the U.S. HVAC industry, yet some contractors and homeowners might still think of ductless systems as primarily single-zone installations,” says Mark Kuntz, vice president of marketing and engineered solutions, Mitsubishi Electric US Cooling & Heating Division. “Ductless technology is increasingly used as a solution for a variety of multi-zone installations. Our new MXZ-5B system simply adds to the possibilities for ductless.”

The announcement of the MXZ-5B system reinforces Mitsubishi Electric’s Ductless on Every Job campaign, in which Mitsubishi Electric encourages contractors to consider ductless on every sales call by educating them on the many scenarios where ductless can be a solution to a customer’s needs.

“We’re spreading the word that ductless technology can open the doors for contractors to provide the best solution for their customers, which will earn them more jobs and help their businesses grow,” adds Kuntz.
